Future Star & Preschool (Recreational)
Creatively teaching the basic foundations of each dance style, while establishing listening and learning etiquette. Imagination and fun required!
Classes separated by A-B-C (A= beginner, and increases with ability, age and experience). Less pressure for students, but still receiving quality dance education in all styles. We hope to continue expanding our Future Star program as our students continue to excel.
Students will learn a routine to perform at year end recital. Costume fees will apply.
Dancers enrolling in Acrodance are required to also be enrolled in Jazz, Ballet or Tap. We do not offer “just Acro” in our full season programming, but do offer it in our “Studio Division” - see Acro 101 available Sept 29 to Mar 22 for 2025-2026.
**Pre Competitive now available through Future Stars program! Typical age 7-9yo.
Competitive
Mini Jr Int Senior
Currently training (4) teams, with plans to continue bringing up Future Stars to form new teams every 1-2 years.. Students must be pre-approved, and willing to commit to training in Jazz, Ballet & Conditioning, with 1 option (minimum).. 4 hours minimum per week in class + work at home.
Students typically compete at 4 events and participate in year end recitals. Costume and Competition fees apply.
Students are considered based on prior experience, attendance and attitude. Our perfect vision would be to bring up experienced Future Star dancers to join. Competitive is a much larger commitment of time, responsibility and finances that we want to ensure students & families are ready to manage.
**Pre Competitive now available through Future Stars program! Typical age 7-9yo.
A typical dance “season” begins in the Fall and finishes mid-May.
Shorter pop up sessions can be often offered throughout the year.
Ballet
Tap dance develops rhythm and musicality for our dancers to become part of the music. An instrument! Miss Ali refers to Tap as “brain food”. Our tappers start at the basics, learning shuffles, flaps, heels and tempos, while working towards more advanced steps. AMR is a proud certified ADAPT Tap studio offering multi levels Recreational and Competitive. .
Tap
Ballet is the foundation for all dance styles. Dancers will learn how to use plie, tendu, sauté, battement, turn, port de bras - all with a large focus on posture and body alignment. Currently offering preschool to pre-pointe levels. Our goal is to one day offer Pointe classes for students demonstrating the proper strength and commitment to their training.
AMR is a member in training to be fully certified in Ballet through Canadian Dance Teachers Association.
Jazz
Jazz dancers will learn foundations for footwork, turns, strength, jumps and style! Jazz requires a confident execution and is often very “upbeat". AMR is a proud ADAPT certified studio in Jazz and offers classes from Preschool to Advanced. Miss Ali’s favourite class!
Acrodance
Acrodance is a beautiful blend of strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, tumbling and limbering mixed with the artistry of dance. Quickly becoming one of our hottest classes. We take our time in building strength and flexibility foundations, to avoid injury or mental blocks with our students. Safe Acro is the best Acro. AMR is proudly certified in two accredited programs — Acrobatic Arts and Acro Dance Teachers Association.
Lyrical & Contemporary
Lyrical and Contemporary is currently offered to Competitive students only. Lyrical is a strong mix of Ballet and Jazz while incorporating story telling and emotional expression. Contemporary has a mix of Ballet and Modern, with contractions & releases of the body, also incorporating strong emotional execution.
